Coffee and friends make the perfect blend

Monday June 26, 2017

I am making cards for the Summer Coffee Lovers blog-hop

I said yesterday I was short on having coffee/tea related images.. Well I looked at some old stamps and found more.. woo hoo..

This is my summer coffee lovers card. I used some nice summery colors (Ranger inks) for the background after I heat embossed the cups (Verve images)  with white embossing powder.  I then found this coffee cup die (Simon Says) and die cut it out and removed the little coffee piece and heart. I found an allover coffee related stamp (Hampton Arts) so stamped the coffee cup. I then colored the heart and coffee strip with copics and went over them with Spectrum Noir glitter pen. The sentiment is from Simon Says and I used a stitched circle die from SS and cut it out. I removed the bottom half. I layered all of the pieces together. I found this awesome ribbon that has swirls in it that reminded me of steam.

Hope you have a RAWRING good day

Monday June 26, 2017

I decided to make a card using my favorite colors.. WELL one of my favorite combos..
I like brown, green and teal.. my computer doesn't do the colors justice.. I hope your computer looks like the true colors..
I wanted it to be kind a summery looking with the flowers and nice green grass. It is summertime here after all.. sure took it's time heat wise to get to a temp I like. HOT.
I used My Favorite Things circle dies and cut the teal and green. I then took the Lawn Fawn grass die and cut the green then laid the circle die over it and cut it out to fit the teal. I adhered it on the brown and cut the edge off. I used Tech. Tues lion, bird and crown and stamped them and cut them out. I also used Mama Elephant little birds, My Favorite Things flowers.  I colored everything with Zig markers. I laid out my scene and then adhered them down. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from Tech. Tues. I cut it into a banner. I added some Nuvo drops.. (again I think I over did it.. I need lessons on how to add embellishments)

with enough COFFEE anything is possible

Sunday June 25, 2017

I am playing along with the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog-hop

If you want to play along go to the above link and join in. There are 77 sponsors and so we have a great chance to win.. if not at least we made a fun card and got inspired by so many talented crafters..Thank you Amy Tsuruta for this awesome challenge and time it takes to put together.

Since the theme is summer coffee.. and I am limited to coffee stamps.. I went with summer colors. I used copics for all of the coloring. Personally I like blended, hot, latte, ice coffee. I am not picky. BUT it does have to be with a creamer.. prefer caramel type creamer.

I first stamped the Simon Says to go coffee cup and hearts all over the card. I then colored the background in light yellow and did the coffee cups in rainbow colors. I stamped the sentiment also from Simon Says and die cut it out with a Simon Says stitched circle die. I added it to the card with foam dots. I had this small Coffee cup die from a Simon Says monthly kit so I used Kraft card stock and die cut it out and colored the nose, arms and heart with copics.  I added some fun doodle eyes. Isn't this the cutest coffee cup to finish this off I went over the hearts with my Spectrum Noir glitter pen...  As I made this I fixed myself a cup of coffee to help with my  mo-jo!..

It's your birthday

Sunday June 25 2017

Hi everyone.. Hope you are enjoying the weather and summer.. it's been late getting to PNW but looks like it's here now.. but that could change quite fast.. LOL
I wanted to give the background summer looking fun bright colors. So this is what I came up with.

I thought since I have some of these My Favorite Things frames left over from an earlier card project I would put it to use and make my animal card. I added ranger ink behind the windows and spritzed with water.. I used Stampin Up silhouette stamp to give a floral background interest. I then stamped these cute Mama Elephant animals and hats. I colored with copics and added to the frames. I thought the monkey is the birthday animal and so the crown, the others are at his /her birthday and so they have the party hats..I added some dots and stripes with white gel pen. The sentiment is from a Simon Says and heat embossed with white.  I think this would be a cute birthday card for anyone. Anyone who is a party animal..

I miss you sow much -

Saturday June 24, 2017

Playing in my craft room I saw this bike stamp that I have from Paper Trey Ink.. it's an old stamp (I have the die also) and I got this pig stamp set a few months back from My Favorite Things.. and knew I wanted to make them work together... I LOVE this look and fun card. I stamped the bike with Stampin up ink and the wheels in grey Momento ink.. I liked the grey color. I stamped the basket with Stampin up.  The pig, flowers and sentiment is from MFT.. Love this set.  I colored the images with copics / colored pencils and added some Nuvo drops to the flower centers I used a brick stencil for part of the road and my cloud template for the sky.. I guess I need to start going darker cause I can hardly see it in the photo. I wet embossed the sentiment in white. I used some Washi tape at the top and bottom of the card base and then used foam tape behind the main panel I also made a slit on top edge of the basket so I could put the flower stems in and tape to the back.. so it looked like a basket full of flowers.

Then I found this flower that I did not use from awhile back from Stampin up I added some Martha Stewart fern punch pieces.. I colored the image with copics and added my cloud template.. This takes my breath away

Thursday June 22, 2017

I was digging through my stamps and found this old one..  I live in the Pacific Northwest and the Pacific ocean is all along our coast.  I have not used this Seattle ferry in ages.  When my hubby worked in the shipyard he rode ferries to work. He would drive from our home to the water front and park his vehicle and get on the ferry as a walk on and it's an hour ride over to where he worked. He really liked the relaxing ride. Growing up and even in my older days we would take the a ferry to Orcas Island or over to Port Townsend and camp or visit the awesome small island treasures. I have happy memories growing up taking the ferries to different areas across the sound.
The mountain in the background could be Mt. Rainier or Baker.. We have mountains all around us The Olympics to the West and Cascades to the East..
Of course lots of seagulls.  The stamp is by Stamping room only.. Our ferries have two tone white and green bodies but I wanted it to stand out and not blend with the background sky so I did it green. The sentiment is from Tech. Tuesday. It's true.. this does take my breath away. I am such a water person and love this beautiful state with lot's of water and mountains and greenery. I used copics and Prisma pencils for the colors. I also used my cloud template.

Happy birthday -

Wednesday June 21, 2017

So are you having a great summer? Doing anything fun.. I tell you being retired is so awesome. Being able to run to the sound and just spend the day in my craft room. So this is what I created.

This is my card. I took a Simon Says stamp and did the happy birthday all over and then took a plant looking stamp from Simon Says and filled in the gaps. I used Ranger ink. I then stamped the Tim Holtz crazy bird and colored it and the balloons with Zig markers. I took some Ken Oliver color burst and used it on water color paper and dried it. I took a Reverse Confetti banner tag die and cut out the awesome colorful tag. I added the bird and balloons along with some floss one tied to the hole in the tag and one to the birds tail.. I did Nuvo clear drops on the eyes and Spectrum Noir on the balloons.

Billie and Monika challenge

Sunday June 18, 2017

Well it's time for Me and Monika - Creative with Monika
to challenge each other.. It's my turn to chose again so I chose Water and Fish.. could be river, lake, ocean, fish bowl...  I chose under water ocean scene. I first used this awesome large fish stamp from Embossing Arts Co.. It is one of my favorite fish. I added some other smaller fish from Hampton Stamps and PSX. I used some greenery from a Simon Says stamp set I have. Those white bubbles are also from the stamp set. It's really a flower stamp set.. perfect for the under water scene. I used the black leaves stamp from Rubber seed. I embossed all of the images. I then used Ranger Inks and colored in the fish with water/ink.  Then I used Ranger inks and water colored the background.  I wish you could see this card in real life. It does look awesome.  I cant wait to see what Monika created.  Oh I was going to add a sentiment but I did not want it to take away from the scene. Figured all could be said inside of the card.. What do you think??
Please head over to Monika's site and see what she created.

Showered with love

Sunday June 18, 2017

Good day and happy fathers day.. My father passed away 13 years ago and I miss him daily.
My sons are fathers and of course my husband is a father..

Well Friday was the last day of Camp Create at My Favorite Things.. I played along each day and even did the bonus. This was a lot of fun.  And the challenge for Friday was glitter. I have a big box of Art Institute glitter so it was fun to break it out and create my card. The video at MFT showed adding double sided tape to card stock and then die cut your image out, then remove one side of the tape and add your glitter and burnish it into the tape..

This is my card. I used my cloud template and Ranger inks to create the background sky.. I then die cut the umbrella out and removed the tape and added the glitter using some pleasing colors.. OH First I cut out the solid umbrella piece and added silver glitter all over it.. Then when I cut out the sections of the umbrella I used the pink, blue and gold glitter and added the pieces in top of the silver glitter so that the silver would show through. It gives a nice dividing line. I added glitter to the handle. I then used Ranger ink and another MFT stamp set and stamped the hearts and sentiment. I then adhered the handle and used foam dots for the umbrella piece. I added the 1/2 pearl  to the top of the umbrella.  I added Wink of Stella to the hearts.  I do like the look and in real life this has so much sparkle. Very pretty look.

You fill my thoughts

Sunday June 18, 2017

So I had a request for a card.. She wanted purple, teal, violet.. So since I love playing with those colors and knew it would be given to a special lady I really thought about it.. This is what I came up with.
I used Ranger inks and created the background. I spritzed it with water.. Then I used Altnew inks and stamped the flowers. I used Stampin Up flower stamps and dies. I used my copic and added a little color to the flowers.  I punched/die cut a bunch of leaves a few months back so dug through them and found some I liked. I layered the flowers. I cut the YOU from My Favorite Things dies and layered them three times to give some depth. I stamped also from MFT the rest of the sentiment and laid it over the YOU.. I added some Nuvo drops and Spectrum Noir glitter pen (to the YOU) .. I am loving the colors.

Happy Birthday To You

Saturday June 17, 2017

I have been playing along at
This is for Bonus challenge

This has really been fun creating and doing some things that I have never done before. Like the slider card and this card is using your die as an embossing die vs. cutting it out.. I've never tried it before..

The BD- die, bear and bear die are all My Favorite Things.  I first took Ranger Oxide ink and colored the card front then did the embossing sandwich and embossed the Happy Birthday To You..  Surprise it came out and looks great.. I then stamped the cute bear in the present and colored it with copics. I die cut it out and placed it over above the sentiment area.  I used Wink of Stella and brushed it over the ribbon and the embossed sentiment.
I cut the piece down and laid it on some teal card stock and added this to white card base.  I will be doing this technique again.. I need to dig through my dies and see what I have to work with..  I am thinking you could use circles /squares ... all sorts of awesome dies..

Flower and texture past

Saturday June 17, 2017

Well few weeks ago I mentioned that my friend Karen and I went to the Scrapbook and card expo.. We took a class from Art Anthology.. making three panels..
Two were not completed so at home I made into cards which I've posted..
I said there was one card we kind a finished in class but I thought it needed more.. Well this is it..
I did not make it into a card because this flower is so thick plus I like it so much I want to keep it.. What I added was taking my circle stencil and some bronze Nuvo drops which I stenciled into the holes. I also added a little to the flower.  I think that added color made me like it more.
The Art Anthology sprays are beautiful.  Everything but the Nuvo bronze is Art Anthology and came with the class.
Now it's just pinned to my bulletin board in my craft room.. It measures 5X7.

Friday June 16, 2017

My card is for the challenge at
My Favorite Things Camp Create day 4.. which was yesterday..
The challenge is SLIDER card..

Of course I will enter this card in other challenges BUT the idea /theme is from Camp create.. I have never ever made a slider card. I didn't know what to do. MFT did show a great video at Camp create but I don't have the die they used and not sure what was needed other then a channel to move to show what is behind. So staying with dies and images from MFT I have this awesome die and figured one little slider would work.  I made it and like it.
I started first with some water color paper I created using the technique Jennifer McGuire did a few weeks ago.. You paint over water color paper and then scrunch up plastic wrap and lay it on the wet in and let it dry..once dry you peal the plastic wrap off and you get a cool texture look to your piece.. well I made probably a dozen of them which I will use in the future. I wanted the scene for this card to be natural desert feeling so I chose the paper where I used Kuretake golds and silver paint.
I stamped the images and white embossed then colored with Zig markers. The slider was also Zig marker and I wanted it to be kind a sunny desert feel. I die cut the 4 cactus and 3 pot out. I used foam tape behind the images to give depth. The frame is also raised. The pull tab is a small cactus. You can see in the second photo where I put the sentiment behind the image/slider. Ouch - Happy Birthday.. could be you forgot the birthday or they are turning an Ouch age.. LOL.. The card base was white but I took some Ranger light purple and just went around the edges. I knew I would use purple on the cactus so wanted to bring the purple out to the base.
I love coloring with the Zig markers and the awesome colors and blending. I love coloring.

Hello Hello Hello Hello Hello

Thursday June 15, 2017

I am playing along with the My Favorite Things camp create.. This card is for Day 3. Make a shaker card : (

So shaker cards are not a favorite of mine to make.. I watched the video that they showed on day 3 of the camp create. I liked the ides of the craft foam so that is what I tried and I thinks it's better  than my prior attempts with foam tape.. BUT I still am not a fan on making shaker cards.. BUT I do love looking at them.  LOVE / HATE relationship.
I love going to the sound and watching the seagulls and knowing there are awesome fish in the water. Walking down the dock and looking down and seeing the fish, sea stars.  Water really is my happy place. Walking the beach, smelling the ocean, seeing the sea life.. I love living in SW Washington where Puget sound is my back door..
I used all My Favorite Things images.  The cloud template is my own.. I have been using this template over 20 years.. I know MFT has one now for clouds. I colored the images with Zig markers and used Ranger inks for the water and clouds.  I added some sequins.. The sentiment I was trying to figure what to use.. but saw the Hello and thought it would be funny to use it as the fish are saying hello to each other and the Seagulls are just looking on.  I laughed.. I think it's funny.
