Fitztown #69 challenge

Thursday March 5, 2015

Welcome to another month long challenge #69 at Fitztown where it's always ANYTHING GOES with a twist USE GREEN

This is the card I made using the image from Fitztown called Easter 5  it's such a cute little bunny.
I thought with Easter coming that it would be a great card for a grandchild..  I was looking through some paint strips I have in a box.. so I chose the green (which is part of the challenge twist) which is also paint chip card and used my spellbinder die to cut it out.. then looking further for a color theme to go with green and saw this awesome purple paint card.. I love the graduation of colors on the card.. If you look on the left side you can see the paint name by the star.. I cut it down and added another designer paper to give a little more contrast to the kraft card base. I have this variegated ribbon and used it to help add colors and a star button over the knot.  This card makes me smile.

This is our other sponsor this week..

This is my card I made.. I couldn't find her in the etsy store so I am calling her Hula hoop girl.. I really wanted so bright colors and lots of different designer papers prints so I dug through my stash and found the simple stories pad and just laid out some different papers and kind a covered the Kraft base. Inspiration Destination # 23 - Always anything goes - Love and kisses

Wednesday March 4, 2015

We have two sponsors this week

One sponsor this week is The Stamping Boutique

I got the to use this cute image called LIPSTICK CHICK for my card. I thought the swishes that are suppose to represent lipstick was great for the background. I know I have a kissing lips stamp but I could not find it anywhere so thought this would work and I think I like it better than the lips would of been. I used three different su colors for the swishes and then colored the lipstick in a similar color. I used wink of stella on the tube of lipstick but it never shows up on the computer.. This was a fun card to make. The sentiment is an unmarked stamp but thought this went well with the image.

Week 1 - Monika and Billie challenge for each other / words background

Monday March 2, 2015

I have met through blog-land quite awhile back a dear friend Monika Reeck from Creative with Monika. She lives in Germany - from Indonesia. I always comment on her cards and on how she makes her own background on her cards. She has so many creative ideas. She said with the cost of designer papers over seas being so expensive that she makes her own background. So with that being said she said why don't we - between the two of us.. make a card each week without designer paper. Well now, that is a good challenge for me.. I have enough designer paper to bury myself in and believe me when I made my card, I kept going to my scraps stash.. slap my hand ... no no NO!!!

This is week 1 for a challenge that Monika and I are doing.. To help me use more of my stamps and not digi or designer papers and for both of us to learn and try different things.. again with out designer paper --Yeek  can I do it? .. Week 1 Monika will choose and Week 2 I will choose..

Monika's choice for week 1 is to make a background using only words and then the sentiment layered onto the card. See sample below..

Well I made a card and then tore it up.. I just hated it. I did not even try to save anything off of it I hated it so much..  But I am loving my second try. I really like the color choices I used and the fun sentiment.  I did learn on this to draw a light line so that your words are in a row and not so angled. I like that it's more personal because it's my own design vs. dp making any kind of statement.  Thanks Monika for encouraging me. Week 1 was a lot of fun.
I hope you leave a comment on my blog and also take time to head over to Monika's blog and see her card and leave her some love.  Now to decide what to do for week 2 ..and hide my dp's..

I was really please overall how it came out and since I don't really do monochromatic I pat myself on the back.. I chose mft dp and other scraps and did the side strips on the righ and added black and white twine along the left side to cover the white image where it meets the designer paper with the alphabets on it. I took two punched circles and added a brad and put it over the bow.. I'm pleased and hope I encouraged you to play along.  I used the image tall birthday cake.

Thursday February 26, 2015

This is challenge #126 and it's BINGO  choose any three in a row..

Our sponsor is My Artistic Adventure

Also we have Add a little dazzle as a sponsor

This is the bingo card to follow. Choose any three in a row.. AND MAKE SURE YOU ADD A SENTIMENT..

This is my card using the pre colored images from My Artistic Adventure - Victorian Vintage Valentine sheet.   I was not sure what I wanted to do and so my first thought was choose what images I wanted to use,, the sheet comes with a lot of images then I chose what row I wanted on the bingo card.. I chose Ribbon, Something pink and Die cut..  then ok what was I going to do for background.. So got out my water color paper and clear embossed the diamond stamp on the paper and then took out my H2O's and went to work on coloring and spritzing with water and coloring more. I took some water color pencils and added a touch here and there but really I cant tell where. The H2O's did 99% of the work. I love it.. dried it and then found in my stash this awesome variegated ribbon which picked up the colors perfect and added black behind the tags to help with making the tags pop.. Added a wood bird that I colored with copics, added some die cut's which is Love and XOXO which is my sentiment.. which is required.. I used a su card stock for the base. I so love the look. I don't do this kind of work so it was fun making it come together.

Catch the bug / humor Wednesday / Flowers say Hello

Wednesday February 25, 2015

Did you know that February 28th is Floral Design Day??   I didn't either and wanted to make a card for this day and since I don't arrange flowers I felt safe with a single rose.. It's designed... as single floral design.. right up my alley.  I used the image fancy rose vase   I had the brown and green put together for another card but I did not like it for that card so I decided since it was still sitting on my craft table off to the side.. would this work on this card.. Yup it worked. I just cant throw away anything and again I am glad I didn't. I wanted the rose to stand out and it does against those colors.  I did the embossed background in clear embossing powder using a wood grain PTI stamp, I like the added texture it gives to the card. I love this sentiment it's from hero arts.

Friday February 20, 2015

Well I made my own background paper again.. I used water color paper and an overall star background stamp and clear embossed it, heated to melt and then I took some Ultra color wash jewel sprays and just sprayed away till I got the effect I wanted. Then I dried it and took a paper towel over the stars to wipe off the excess inks.  Then I cut out the Free Friday image and added her. I had some cute sentiments from My Favorite Things and chose this one and cut it apart. Aud Sentiments #125 - Theme SPRING or EASTER

Thursday February 12, 2015

The sponsor for this challenge is Great Impressions. Great Impressions was founded in 1984 by Ken and Deone Mackenzie. With a love for stamping, the company grew. The result is quality rubber stamps in either wood mount or stickable mount backing for all your stamping needs. Great Impressions' goal is to provide the highest quality stamps and to inspire creativity! Please check out our online store to see over 1, 000 stamp designs today ! We know you'll find something that will leave a "Great Impression" on you!

They have some awesome images and they live in my county about 25 min from my house.. woo hoo for that. I do have a few of their stamps and I chose this one for the Spring theme of our challenge.  I don't remember the name of the stamp so sorry about that. I just colored the image in and I also made the background paper. I used the plaid stamp set from MFT and only one line of the set and just repeated with different colors. I couldn't figure out the colors to use because I didn't want summer bright colors or fall so figured since it's to be spring that would use these colors. I like the way it came out and it really showcases the Great Impressions sentiment piece.
I hope you play along and remember to put your sentiment on the front of your card..

I used the camera stamp from Taylored Expressions and colored it with copics. Added some washi tape at the bottom to give some interest.
